Chandeliers illuminated.

This chandelier is just back from being fully re-wired.  It has a lovely sparkle and great proportions.  There used to be a schoolhouse light where the chandelier is hanging now, and this packs such a huge dramatic punch in comparison…it catches my eye every time I walk past.

While we’re on the subject, check out this interesting post by Amy Azzarito for design*sponge.  Her new column is called “past and present” and features a different decorative object each time, outlining its history and giving ideas for incorporating the object into your home.  The inaugural post is about chandeliers and features a nice history lesson with some interesting facts.

I particularly love Amy’s photo of the chandeliers from Versaille’s Hall of Mirrors waiting to be rehung after being restored.  It reminds me of our loading dock after our shipment last spring!
