We’re all familiar with Sarah’s House, well what about Tommy’s? This photo gallery from House & Home gives us a sneak peek into the homes – past and present – of Sarah’s co-host, designer Thomas Smythe. I love his timeless sense of design that always incorporates antique pieces while maintaining a comfortable, contemporary feel. Browsing through the gallery we spotted our vintage steeple that he bought from us years ago:

Here’s what Tommy has to say about using vintage pieces in his work:
“I do not consider a room complete until it has the right balance of vintage and modern elements. Trends and whimsy are not a focus for me. I strive to create a feeling of timeless elegance and gracious living in soulful environments. Rooms should feel as though the furniture and art within them were collected over time and curated with a sense of personal history.”
“The Door Store has been a favourite destination of mine for over a decade. There isn’t another retailer in Toronto with the same special magic this place holds. I know that when I visit The Door Store I’ll find the perfect thing, even if it isn’t necessarily what I came for – it’s nearly impossible to leave empty handed! Every time I shop here I learn something new and am offered – literally- a world of possibility. Whenever I have renovated a home for myself I’ve used architectural salvage elements from The Door Store. Columns, fireplace mantles, windows and doors from this place have all found new homes in houses I’ve worked on over the years. I’m told this is “green”; I just think it’s chic!”
